The Curriculum
The at Yarraman Oaks a 1-1 laptop program is just the start. Our students are exposed to every aspect of Digital Technology. They start to learn to program in prep and by grade 6 they can develop in depth games and other applications through the knowledge they have acquired along the way. Our students are not just exposed to Digital Technology they are taught to play with it, to create new and exciting uses for the tools and be able to integrate this into their everyday lives.

Laptop Program
At Yarraman Oaks Primary School we have a big focus of the integration of digital technologies into all areas of teaching. In Grades 3-6 we have a one to one ratio laptop to students and sets of iPads in all learning spaces.
At Yarraman Oaks we aim to nurture each child’s individuality while making them smart users of technology with a thorough knowledge of internet safety, computational thinking and digital design. Our aim is for all students to develop a wealth of digital presentation techniques, strong coding skills and great problem-solving abilities in order to equip them for whatever they choose to pursue in their future.

eSmart
Yarraman Oaks Primary is an eSmart accredited school. eSmart helps teachers to best manage bullying, cyber bullying and cyber risks so students feel safer and supported at school. It is not a band-aid or a quick fix, and based on documented evidence, it was created to address those issues – and to help schools meet their duty of care. eSmart is a long-term change program designed to educate, track, monitor and prevent bullying and cyber bullying. It helps us to embrace the benefits of technology while reducing students’ exposure to cyber risks, such as cyber bullying, online sexual predation, identity theft and fraud.
While the internet is great for learning and socialising, there are many pitfalls. Children need be protected from children being exposed to inappropriate content, to fraud and scams, and being bullied – which can and does contribute to anxiety, depression. As a nation, we should all be working to ensure we invest time and resources into raising a generation of smart, safe and responsible children, who are capable and compassionate – both on and offline.
