Student Wellbeing
Yarraman Oaks Primary School Noble Park
Student wellbeing refers to how happy, healthy and safe students feel at school. It includes their emotional, social and physical health, and supports them to develop positive relationships, resilience and confidence in their learning. When students feel connected, supported and valued, they are more able to focus, participate and achieve their best at school.
At Yarraman Oaks Primary School, student wellbeing is a priority. We have the following in place to support the health and wellbeing of our students:
Wellbeing Coordinator: We have a Wellbeing Coordinator on-site to support the health, safety, and emotional wellbeing of students at school and their families. They assist by providing programs, resources, and guidance that help students feel happy, supported, and ready to learn.
Breakfast Club: Children can enjoy a free breakfast before school at our on-site Breakfast Club on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Lunch Time Clubs: We offer a variety of clubs throughout the week, including Soccer Club, Colouring Club, Lego Club, Gardening Club, and Sport Club.
Peer Mediation: Our senior students are trained as Peer Mediators. Peer Mediators wear a special yellow vest and are rostered on during recess and lunchtime. They help other students find ways to solve problems in the playground and assist students in finding friends to play with.
Social Skills: This small group program helps children build positive relationships and practise important social skills in a supportive setting. Through games, discussions, and activities, students learn how to communicate, share, take turns, and solve problems with their peers. This helps them feel more confident and connected both in the classroom and on the playground.

Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR)
Resilience, Rights & Respectful Relationships (RRRR) is a mandated Department of Education program designed to help students build strong social and emotional skills and develop healthy, respectful relationships. It covers eight topics: Emotional Literacy, Personal Strengths, Positive Coping, Problem Solving, Stress Management, Help-Seeking, Gender & Identity, and Positive Gender Relationships. At Yarraman Oaks Primary School, RRRR is embedded in the Health curriculum and taught as part of our regular Health lessons. Through lessons and class activities, students learn how to understand their feelings, manage stress, ask for help when needed, respect differences, and treat others with kindness and fairness..

Student Voice & Agency
Student voice and agency means giving students opportunities to share their ideas, opinions and interests, and to have some choice in their learning. This helps students feel valued and encourages them to take responsibility for their progress. At Yarraman Oaks Primary School, this might look like students helping choose topics for projects, giving feedback about school activities, taking on leadership roles such as Peer Mediators, or working together to create classroom rules or independent learning goals. When students have voice and agency, they feel more confident, engaged and motivated to learn
